Winners of First ilovemobileweb Awards Announced
 
 

The Associated Press, MocoSpace, News International, Mobitainment
and Zagat Survey lead the winners for best mobile Web sites

DUBLIN, Ireland – Oct. 9, 2008 – The dotMobi Advisory Group (MAG) today announced the winners of the first ilovemobileweb Awards for excellence in mobile Web site creation. More than 50 submissions from a half-dozen countries were considered for six categories: Social Networking, Information, Entertainment, Corporate, Commerce and Retail, and Travel.

"The large number of excellent entries across such a diverse range of categories and countries shows that the mobile Web is growing to fulfill its promise as a unique channel for reaching consumers," said Michael O'Farrell, Chairman of the MAG and co-author of Mobile Internet for Dummies. "I expect to see next year's competition for the ilovemobileweb Awards to grow exponentially – as will the innovations and mass number of sites delivering made-for-mobile services for all consumers to enjoy."

The ilovemobileweb Awards were judged by an expert industry panel, including representatives from the dotMobi Advisory Group, Informa Telecoms & Media, Bango, and dotMobi – the company behind the .mobi internet domain. All ilovemobileweb award submissions were created on .mobi Internet domains and were built to industry "best practices" guidelines. The .mobi domain serves as an industry trust mark to help consumers find content that works on all mobile phones, regardless of handset model or operator.
