| Lauri Hirvonen is the Business Development Manager for Nokia in Finland. Lauri joined the dotMobi initiative in 2002 and was instrumental in creating the dotMobi joint venture with other mobile industry members. |
Educated as a computer engineer, Lauri's career has included hardware and software development as well as marketing. In the early 1970's working with Nokia, Lauri was part of the pioneering team that implemented on-line banking systems. Soon after its launch, Lauri was made responsible for Nokia's health care computer systems business, which he was involved with for 10 years.
Lauri is well known today for his achievement in introducing the most successful e-mail system in Finland in the 1980's, which was based on advanced fault tolerant systems. Lauri also is the creator of the Nokia Developer support organization, known as Forum Nokia, which he launched in 1996. Forum Nokia now boasts 2.5 million members.
In early 2005 Lauri was set the task of recruiting the first members of the dotMobi Advisory Group responsible for developing it as a not-for-profit organization and the draft of its Charter and Operating Procedures. He is dedicated to developing the organization for the purpose of creating better Internet services for Mobile users.
